“Use of Micro irrigation for Jawar ” An Innovative Experiment By Farmer Of Osamanbad.
Use of Micro irrigation system for high value crops is very common in Indian Agriculture. But Mr. Mahadev Vibhute a farmer of Osmanabad district in Maharashtra having 80 acre land with very less water, has proved that short duration cereals like “Jawar “(Sorghum bicolor), also can be grown with very less available water .
He used Kothari Drip inline irrigation System for Jawar Crop and only with 5 irrigation he got double yield from 5 Quintals to 10 Quintals per Acre. This experiment is a milestone for drip industry to incorporate micro irrigation system in “ National food Security mission “ program run by Government of India , Department Of Agriculture.
This same experiment can be used for other important cereals. It is one of the way to become self sufficient in cereals, pulse crops & in oil seeds crops.
