Importance of Column Pipes for Borewell
Date: 14-01-2022History & Need for the Column Pipes
Column pipe is having recent history of 50 years. In early days, there was no need for bore wells with more depth due to water availability at less depth in the soil. Usually the trend was there to use HDPE Coil pipe in the bore well for the depth up to 100 meters.
With the passing of time, more depletion of water level in the soil beyond 500 ft., which increases the need for the pipes with more pressure beyond 12.5 Kg/Cm2 pressure. The HDPE coil pipe has the limitation of working up to 12.5 Kg/cm2. Also using of GI pipe was the earlier trend, which has the limitation of more head loss, rusting issues & more weight etc.
To address the problems columns pipes were developed which are having many unique advantages & which can go up to the depth of even 1000 ft. bore wells.
Design Characters of Kothari Column Pipes
The Column Pipes are designed to use in the higher bore depths. They are designed to sustain following pressures
- The internal water pressure (Total Head) to pull the water from bore well to the desired location on the ground
- The pressure created due to the weight of the pump & self-weight of the pipe
- Non Toxic (Lead Free) 100% Safe for Drinking Water
- Tough, strong & Durable with Metal Free Compound
- Impact resistant hence almost non-breakable
- Unique Double Locking System
- Very smooth internal surface (less frictional losses)
- Highly insulated for thermal (Heat)
- India’s First Impact Sustaining Lock System
- Excellent category for multiple uses
- Available in Sizes from 1” (25mm ID) to 4” (100mm ID)
Advantages of Kothari Column Pipes
UPVC Pipes & Fittings: used for conveyance of Potable (Drinking) water & other water (ASTM -D1785). It is light weight & having very smooth inner surface.
-
Features

- Exceptional corrosion resistance ensures constant flow over lifetime.
- Annealing process carried out on Pipes for ensuring maximum strength & life too.
Accessories used along with Column Pipes for proper Installation & additional Safety
- Adapter Set: Quality use of top & bottom Adapter set to have the highest strength of the jointing with pipe
- Pump Guard set: Pump Guard set must be used as an additional support for keeping the Joint of Pump & Pipe intact
- Belt Wrench: Instead of regular screw wrench or any other wrench, belt wrench must be used to attach the pipes in to each other
- Sigri: While inserting pipes in the bore well, Sigri should be used for the smooth operation
