History

The application of water artificially to the crops is called Irrigation. Irrigation has prominent historical pieces of evidence right from the Indus Valley Civilization in the 3300 BCE to 1300 BC, and even in its mature stages from 2600 BC to 1900 BC also in the 4500 BC. For a long period, Irrigation in Agriculture was only possible with the help of gravity, by allowing the water to flow from a high altitude region to a low altitude area.

After the invention of Cement Pipes, GI Pipes the water loss due to evaporation was relatively cut down. A breakthrough in Irrigation Systems in Agriculture was after 1766, when a power-operated water pump was invented. However, the development in the Irrigation Sector mainly took place in the last 100 years with the invention of PVC Pipes, HDPE Pipes, high head pumps, etc.

Concept
