Mini-Sprinkler Irrigation
Date: 19-7-2024Definition
This includes irrigation of crops with the help of plastic sprinklers & higher diameter Polytube to have the maximum length coverage.
System
- Includes plastic sprinkler nozzles to operate between the pressure range of 2 to 4 Kg/cm2. This pressure is ideal to create the fine droplet size of water drops to avoid soil erosion.
- The nozzles are full circle & part circle types to avoid the water losses at the corners.
- The nozzles are connected to the adapter with extension tube which is connected to Polytube.
- With the help of MS stand, mini-sprinklers are properly installed in the field.
- It also includes 25mm or 32mm Polytube on which mini-sprinklers are installed with the help of Polytube.
- At every opening of Polytube the control valve is provided to ensure the proper pressure in the system. This is other than the main control valve placed at the submain as per the design.
- Mini-sprinkler system needs filtration up to 200 micron for proper operation of the system.
- The air valve & non return valve is the must in the system for its proper operation & life.
Spacing:
- Ideally mini-sprinkler system installed with the spacing of 9m x 9m or 10m x 10m with the number of nozzles ranging from 40 numbers to 50 numbers.
- Those number of nozzles makes the system semi portable with easy shifting of nozzles from one field to another.
Operating Guidelines:
- The system is designed in such a way to operate between 2 to 4 Kg/cm2. Ideally it should be operated at 2.5 Kg/cm2 with the nozzle discharge between 490 to 730 LPH.
- The number of nozzles to be operated at a time depends upon the pump flow at the design head. Accordingly the line pressure can be adjusted with the help of 25mm or 32mm control valves at each Polytube.
- The system is designed to have the irrigation interval of up to 3 days which is ensuring maximum area coverage in minimum time.
- The system is ideal for the irrigation of Potato, Onion, Ginger, Gram, Wheat, Vegetables etc.
Advantages over other sprinklers:
- Mini-sprinkler system is having the application rate of 4.9 to 7.3mm/Hr which is ideal compared with Micro Sprinklers or metal sprinkler sets.
- The semi-portability of the system (shifting of nozzles) & number of nozzles makes it ideal system over micro-sprinklers.
- The easy cleaning of nozzles with easy opening & placing of sprinkler tips makes this system very easy for maintenance over other sprinklers.
- The droplet size is not so big to avoid the soil erosion unlike in metal sprinklers or not too small to blow away with medium wind unlike in micro-sprinkler.
Maintenance:
- It includes cleaning of Filter on daily basis after operation of the system
- Opening of Polytube ends & sub-main ends on weekly basis
- Cleaning of Mini-sprinkler nozzles on monthly basis
- Checking of the other fittings for any leakages
