Advantages Of Mini-Sprinklers Over Metal Sprinklers & Rain Guns In Farming
Date: 21-8-2021Micro Irrigation is a modern irrigation method in which water is irrigated through drippers, sprinklers, foggers and other emitters on the surface or subsurface of the land. Micro-Irrigation has played a vital role in increasing crop yield & soil health. Sprinkler Irrigation Systems are a part of Micro-Irrigation Systems.
Sprinkler System is used for closed spacing crops. It has wider acceptability as compared to Drip Irrigation System due to its lower costing. Here, we will study the advantages of Mini-Sprinklers over Metal Sprinklers & Rain guns. The Mini-Sprinklers used for Sprinkler Irrigation should be of good quality for them to have advantages over metal sprinklers, which is why sprinklers by Kothari Group Sprinkler Irrigation System Manufacturers & Suppliers in India should be used.
Mini-Sprinkler:- They have a medium-sized plastic impact sprinkler with a discharge capacity of 400 to 600 lph at an operating pressure between 2 to 3 Kg/Cm2.
- The ideal spacing for the installation of Mini-sprinklers is 9mx9m to 10mx10m. Poly tubes of 25mm or 32mm are used for the installation of Mini-sprinklers in the field.
- It is a semi-portable system in which Sprinkler Nozzles can be shifted from one field to another, though the Poly tube remains fixed during the crop period.
- This is useful for all types of closely spaced crops like Soybean, Potato, Onion, Vegetables, and Groundnut, etc.
- Metal Sprinklers have the same operating pressure of 2 to 3 Kg/Cm2 with a discharge between 1300 lph to 2000 lph.
- They are spaced at 12m X 12m in the field and are used along with HDPE quick coupling pipes with diameters from 63mm to 110mm. Kothari by Kothari Group Sprinkler Irrigation System Manufacturers & Suppliers in India, produce both Nozzles & pipes that are fully portable and used for all the crops mentioned above.
- Rain gun sprinklers have an operating pressure of 3 to 5 Kg/Cm2 with a discharge between 6000 lph to 25000 lph.
- They are used with a fixed mainline system or with HDPE quick coupling pipes. They are used for all closely spaced crops along with crops with more height like sugarcane.
- The main advantage of mini-sprinkler is that it has the lowest application rate (4.5 to 6mm/Hr) as compared to Metal Sprinkler (9 to 14mm/Hr) or Rain gun (over 20mm/Hr). This application rate is similar to that of the Drip Irrigation System.
- The Mini-Sprinkler System is user-friendly to cover the maximum area in a single shifting compared to Metal Sprinklers and Rain gun. With a 5 HP high head pump. Mini-sprinkler can be operated up to an acre at a time; on the other hand a Metal sprinkler can be operated up to 0.30 Acre and Rain gun up to 0.5 Acre.
- The water use efficiency is highest (80%) compared to a Metal sprinkler and Rain gun in which it is up to 60%.
- The droplet size of the mini-sprinkler nozzle is smaller compared to the metal nozzle and Rain gun. There is more soil erosion and crop damage due to the metal nozzle and the Rain gun as compared to the Mini-sprinkler nozzle.
- The maintenance & handling part is simpler in Mini-sprinkler.
