Borewell Water Supply Pipes

A piping system for extracting groundwater from borewells and carrying it safely to farms, homes and other points of use.

Understanding Borewell Water Supply Systems

iA borewell water supply system has to do two jobs: bring groundwater up from the bore and keep that water moving through the system after extraction. The piping used inside the borewell therefore needs to be selected according to the bore depth, pump arrangement, water requirement and ground conditions.

A typical borewell system includes pipes that support the pumping arrangement and pipes that line and protect the borehole. The right combination helps manage water movement while limiting problems caused by soil ingress, unwanted groundwater layers or demanding underground conditions.

For agricultural applications, the extracted water may then be carried to an irrigation network. In other cases, it may be supplied to a building, farm facility or other point of use.

Kothari Pipes offers Column Pipes, Casing Pipes, Slotted Pipes and Ribbed Casing Pipes for different parts of the borewell arrangement. The appropriate product depends on the role it needs to perform within the system.

Where Borewell Water Supply Systems Are Used

Borewell water supply systems are used wherever groundwater needs to be extracted and transported from an underground source.

  • Agricultural farms

Groundwater extracted through a borewell can be taken into the farm's irrigation system for crop watering. This is relevant across field crops, horticulture and other agricultural applications where borewell water is part of the irrigation source.

  • Farmhouses and rural properties

Borewells may provide water for general water-supply requirements where a suitable groundwater source is available.

  • Residential and building water supply

Borewell systems can be used as a groundwater source for buildings, subject to the applicable water-quality and local requirements.

  • Industrial and commercial sites

Groundwater extraction may form part of a site's water-supply arrangement where permitted and technically suitable.

  • Groundwater extraction systems

Casing and screen/slotted pipe arrangements are used within the bore structure to support the borehole and allow groundwater to enter the system.

Key Requirements for Borewell Water Supply Piping

Selecting borewell piping is not simply a matter of choosing a pipe by diameter. The pipe has to match the conditions under which it will operate.

Recommended Kothari Pipes for Borewell Water Supply

Kothari's borewell range addresses different functions within the borewell structure. The key is to select the product according to where it sits in the system and what it needs to do.

Column Pipe

Column Pipe

The Column Pipe forms the connection between the submersible pump and the water-delivery system above the borewell. It carries the pumped water upward and forms part of the suspended pipe assembly inside the bore.

Casing Pipe

Casing Pipe

The Casing Pipe is used to line and protect the borehole. Its role is different from that of the column pipe: instead of carrying water from the submersible pump upward, it forms a protective sleeve around the borehole.

Slotted Pipe

Slotted Pipe

A Slotted Pipe is used where groundwater needs to enter the borewell through the screened section. Its position and slot arrangement are important because the screen needs to allow water entry while helping manage the entry of surrounding material.

Ribbed Casing Pipe

Ribbed Casing Pipe

A Ribbed Casing Pipe can be used as part of the borewell casing arrangement where the project requires this particular casing design.
