Residential Plumbing Systems with UPVC & CPVC Pipes
Planned piping for cold- and hot-water distribution across kitchens, bathrooms and other residential water-use points.
Understanding Residential Plumbing Systems
A residential plumbing system has to deliver water to multiple points in a house without compromising flow, pressure or water quality. From the incoming supply line to the kitchen, bathroom, wash area and water-heater connections, each section of the network has a specific role.
The piping system also needs to work within concealed walls, shafts, ceilings and service areas, where repairs can be inconvenient once construction is complete. When you’re picking pipe material, you’ve got to think about water temperature, pressure, how you’re setting things up, and what the system’s actually supposed to do.
In most homes, there’s a clear line: one set of pipes for cold water, and another for hot. Kothari's UPVC plumbing system is positioned for cold-water applications, while its KwikFlow CPVC system is designed for hot- and cold-water plumbing. The CPVC range is specified to handle temperatures up to 93°C and follows IS 15778 for pipes.
The objective is to create a properly planned network in which the pipe, fittings and joints work together throughout the building.
Where Residential Plumbing Systems Are Used
Residential plumbing systems are used wherever water needs to be distributed from the building's incoming supply or storage arrangement to individual points of use.
Independent houses and villas
Water is distributed from the main supply or storage tank to kitchens, bathrooms, utility areas and other fixtures.
Apartments and residential towers
Vertical and horizontal plumbing networks distribute water across multiple floors and individual dwelling units.
Housing developments
Repeated plumbing layouts require consistent pipe and fitting specifications across multiple homes.
Bathrooms and kitchens
Cold-water lines supply fixtures, while CPVC is used where the system carries hot water.
Renovation and replacement projects
Existing plumbing sections may need to be replaced or extended while maintaining compatibility with the planned system.
Kothari's CPVC catalogue specifically identifies residential and commercial buildings, public utilities, and concealed, down-take and terrace-looping installations among its applications.
Key Requirements for Residential Plumbing
Residential plumbing should be planned around how the building will actually consume water. Pipe selection is not simply a question of choosing a diameter.
Recommended Kothari Products for Residential Plumbing
The simplest way to select between Kothari's residential plumbing systems is to start with the water service required.

Kothari KwikFit UPVC Pipes
Kothari KwikFit UPVC is an ASTM plumbing system intended for cold-water plumbing. The published product material identifies UV and fire resistance, lead-free construction, low friction loss and easy installation among its characteristics. If you are installing a typical cold-water system, you will usually see pipes made to ASTM D1785, with fittings that match ASTM D2466 or D2467 standards. That setup works for moving water from a tank or main supply over to taps, sinks, and anywhere else you need cold water around the house.

Kothari KwikFlow CPVC Pipes
If the house needs to handle hot water, things change a bit. Kothari KwikFlow CPVC, for instance, is meant for both hot and cold plumbing. So, if you're running hot water to showers or kitchen sinks, that is a good fit. The range includes pipes between 15 mm and 150 mm and fittings from 15 mm to 50 mm. Pipes sized 15–50 mm follow IS 15778 standards, and bigger pipes are listed with ASTM standards in the product catalogue.
