Solar-Powered Irrigation Transforming Rural Agriculture.

Kothari Agritech Private Limited successfully implemented a Solar Photovoltaic Community Irrigation Project for the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA). Completed during 2018–19, the project covered 689 hectares across 13 locations, with a total project value of ₹5.22 Crore.

The project included the survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a complete water distribution network powered by solar energy, along with a five-year comprehensive on-site warranty. By utilizing renewable energy, the system achieved 100% energy savings while reducing water consumption by 30%, providing a sustainable and reliable irrigation solution for remote farming communities.

Before the project, farmers depended entirely on rainfed paddy cultivation. With assured irrigation, they transitioned to two-season paddy cultivation, resulting in a 30% increase in crop yield and improved agricultural productivity. The project has benefited over 500 farmers, bringing dependable irrigation to areas where it was present for the first time.

This initiative showcases how clean energy and modern irrigation can work together to improve water management, increase farm productivity, and strengthen the livelihoods of rural communities through sustainable agriculture.
